- Importantly, in order for a device to be eligible for sale, the device must be both erased and disconnected from its Find My iPhone account
- To erase your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, follow these steps:
- "General" > "Reset" (or "Transfer or Reset iPhone" on iOS 15)
- Be sure that your data is saved to the cloud and then click "Erase All Content and Settings"
- Enter your passcode if asked and then click "Erase [device]" and Confirm
- Your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch is now reset. Proceed to logging out of Find My account
- To erase your MacBook, follow these steps:
- Instructions will vary slightly based on your operating systems. Be sure to save and back up all data on your Macbook
- From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose System Settings or System Preferences
- Click "General" > "Transfer or Reset" > "Erase All Content and Settings"
- If you're asked to sign out of Apple ID, enter your Apple ID password and click Continue
- Click "Erase All Content & Settings" to confirm that you want to proceed

- To remove your device from its Find My account, follow these steps:
- Go to icloud.com/#find and sign in with your Apple ID (the same one used for iCloud)
- If you are currently using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window and select “Find My iPhone.”
- Once on the Find My iPhone page, click on “All Devices” and select the device you want to erase.
- Click on “Erase Device” and enter your Apple ID password. If the device is not lost, there is no need to enter a phone number or message.
- Note that you can disconnect your devices even if they are offline or not at your current location.
- Your device is now ready to be shipped
